The total planted forest area of the Brazilian panel manufacturing sector amounts to some 500,000 ha., a renewable resource, from which comes all the wood for industry's production. That represents barely 0.5% of the country's total area, while 26,000 ha. of the sector's planted area is set aside for permanently protected natural forest reserves.

Certification
ABIPA's member companies receive many certificates for the quality of their industrial products and forest reserves. In general, they recognise that their industrial processes are developed in ways that are environmentally friendly, socially just and economically viable. That preoccupation ensures international recognition for the majority of ABIPA's member companies through the 'Green Label' and forestry certification, awarded by bodies linked to the FSC - Forest Stewardship Council.

ISO 14,001
Granted to companies that achieve outstanding environmental control in their activities, ISO 14,001 proves that the whole wood production process is completed correctly, without damaging the environment. That certification, helps guide the consumer in selecting wood-based products (MDP, MDF and hardboard) that create the lowest possible impact, permitting renewal and continuation of the environment , as well as he biodiversity it protects.

For ABIPA and its members, the commitment to nature is particularly relevant, as eucalypt and pine wood is the raw material employed in the development of their products.

Our Forests




ABIPA member companies support important programmes aimed at encouraging respect for the natural world and closer integration of mankind with the environment. These programmes, in summary, establish principles for the production activities of panel companies, that guarantee the continued integrity of the ecosystem.
